Windsor Path Welcomes WFFA Advisors as Its First Member Firm

A new chapter for two firms committed to building accounting practices that last.

We're proud to share that, as of June 30, Windsor Path has partnered with WFFA Advisors, the tax and business advisory arm of New York City's Wagner, Ferber, Fine & Ackerman. It's a milestone moment for us. This is the first partnership we've completed since closing our fundraising, and the start of what we believe will be a long list of firms that grow alongside us.

A different kind of partner

Windsor Path is a family-office-backed platform built for accounting firms, and our goal is straightforward. We aim to reach the ranks of the country's Top 50 Firms by partnering with practices generating between $3 million and $35 million in annual revenue. When we join forces with a firm, we take a controlling stake, but we don't ask that firm to disappear into ours. Each practice keeps its name, its brand, its leadership, and its local independence. What changes is the support behind the scenes. We centralize and scale the back-office functions like human resources, technology, and bookkeeping so our partners can spend their energy where it matters most, serving clients.

It's worth being clear about something, because the question comes up often. People tend to assume any deal like this is private equity. We're not. Private equity typically operates on a three-to-five-year clock before moving on. Our horizon is far longer.

"We're backed by investors, and our sole mandate is to build an accounting firm — that's the only thing we're focused on," I told Accounting Today. "Windsor Path exists to partner with accounting firms and help them grow."

That focus shaped everything about how we approached WFFA.

"There was strong alignment and excitement around the direction WFFA was already heading. Danny and I always say our job isn't to change a firm's vision — it's to help them get there faster."

Why WFFA

Founded in 1947, WFFA brings nearly eight decades of history to this partnership. The firm has ten partners, offices in Manhattan and on Long Island, and a client base spanning small and mid-sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals across the New York metro area, served across tax, accounting, advisory, and attest work.

In keeping with the structure these arrangements call for, the partnership separates the firm's services into two entities. Tax and business advisory work now sits under WFFA Advisors, LLC, while attest services remain with Wagner, Ferber, Fine & Ackerman, which continues to operate as an independently owned and licensed CPA firm.

Michael Ferber, CEO of WFFA Advisors, framed the decision this way:

"We chose to partner with Windsor Path because they share our commitment to client service and our vision for sustainable growth. Their strategic approach and operational support will help us enhance our capabilities while staying true to what makes WFFA unique. We're genuinely excited to work alongside their team as we build the future of our firm together."

Phil Whitman, CEO of Whitman Transition Advisors, who advised both sides through the process, added:

"WFFA had its choice of strategic partner and chose Windsor Path because of the combination of independence and operational support they provide. Windsor Path and the firms they invest in will be among the winners in the accounting space."

What comes next

This first partnership is exactly the kind of relationship we set out to build. A respected, established firm with its own identity, paired with a platform designed to help it move faster without losing what made it successful in the first place. We're grateful to the WFFA team for their trust, and we're just getting started.

Camilo Maldonado and Danny Urgelles are co-founders and co-CEOs of Windsor Path.
